An extension of the Metropolitan Route Numbering System was introduced into the Mornington Peninsula in 1989. These routes were spread out throughout the peninsula, serving communities between Frankston, Rosebud and Flinders. A total of 8 routes were signed, numbered between 60 and 73. As like with State Routes, these routes were replaced by the Statewide Route Numbering Scheme in 1998.
